This week’s organizational post is on how to organize your DVDs & Blurays. I have a substantial movie collection and with such a large quantity of movies organization is definitely important. Below are my top 5 ways to organize that I have tried and/or seen online with links to other posts from bloggers on DVD & Bluray organization.
Organizational method #1. LEFT. Separate and sort by rating. Photo courtesy of Iheartorganizing
Using plastic containers such a plastic shoe boxes sort all your films based on rating and place them in colored CD cases inside the plastic bins & label the bins.
Organizational method #2. BELOW RIGHT. Alphabetical order. Photo courtesy of Simply organized. Store the films in DVD sleeves and organize alphabetically in a storage basket.
Organizational method #3.
Organization by genre. ABOVE LEFT. Photo courtesy of living well mom. Move the movies & the cover art into DVD sleeves and separate them by genre into decorated organization bins
Organizational method #4. Organize in folders.RIGHT. Photo courtesy of cakefor2. Use whichever organizational method mentioned above (genre, alphabetical, rating) & store in DVD folders like those shown in the photo. **This is the method I use.
Organizational method #5. Organize on shelf. BELOW LEFT. Photo courtesy of buzzfeed. Use a shelf lift so that the back cases are still visible. 
Organize Me Happy 
Great tips! We upload all of our movies to Vudu but I do miss having a physical DVD/ Blu-ray collection. Maybe I’ll start a small collection and use some of you tips!

We have so many that number 3 would be perfect. I would have to con my husband out of the cases. He swears those sleeves scratches discs up. My trouble is every drawer and cabinet in the living room houses a dvd or bluray!

I love #2 and #3. WE have so many DVDs and Blu Ray disks and they always end up just kind of tossed inside of our entertainment stand with no organization at all.

Yes! We still have a drawer full of DVD’s. I like the idea of organizing them by rating. That would make it easier for the kids to know which boxes they could choose a movie from! Thanks for the tips.

We’ve gone digital with most of our DVDs and BluRays and just stick all the physical discs in a large CD case but a few of these ideas I absolutely love. Thanks for sharing.

As a military wife who could barely handle her busy schedule I am truly glad I came across your post. I love those different tips about organizing your DVD’s! What I like is to sort it out based on how I like the movie. I compiled all my favorites DVD and then separate those that I dont like that much.

wow. we haven’t had dvd’s or cd’s for years. I guess it’s because we live traveling so those are just unpractical. I do like the systems you mentioned though! I used to have mine in a black zippered sleeve thing.

Rating and genre what great ideas! I’ve only ever done by title but these are much better ways in my opinion! Easier to find something you’d be in the mood for thats for sure!
